Riddick Developer Working On Yet Another Next-Gen Title
August 20, 2005 - Our favourite European informant has let us in on the latest happenings at Starbreeze, studio behind the immensely enjoyable Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, plus the forthcoming Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 comic-property, The Darkness.
According to Bill, as he shall be forever known, Starbreeze announced Monday the signing of a 'Binding Letter of Intent,' with VUG, for (a) new next-generation game(s), with pre-production and prototyping commencing immediately while development of The Darkness is completed. Backing this up is Starbreeze's latest job ad, stating their need for a Project Manager who can coordinate a team of up to 60 people, 27 more than the studio presently employs.
Despite the ambiguity of the announcement, speculation is apparently rife on the Starbreeze forums, where many believe the new title to be a Riddick sequel, or perhaps even "the announced Robert Ludlum 'Bourne' project." No matter the theme, the one fact we can be sure of is that it will not be completed for "some years," as stated by Starbreeze stuido boss Johan Kristiansson in a recent interview.
