沉痛悼念exandy ---- Death Is Just The Beginning
Dedicated to exandy ---- Styx Mist
As I look at the frozen lake, I notice patches of snow, with more ice exposed than snow. Strange April here in Styx. It should be ten below with thirty-below wind chill. Instead it is misty, cloudy, overcast, weepy.
Today that lake is full of tears. The tears are for all that has been lost—friends, family, possibilities, betrayals, health, youth, love and faith. There are also tears of gratitude, comfort and cleansing. There are tears of hope, beauty, expectation, appreciation and even of…joy. Joy is that rare and precious gift that comes, though usually not with tears.
Tears are a gift, a gift from God. Just as the deepest intimacy we can have with a departed loved one is in the aching pain of memory, in the lingering, self-pitying pain of grief for ourselves who are the losers, not them; so it is that God weeps with us, embraces us with the pain of our loss. The pain is God's embrace, the ultimate atonement.
Pity those who can't weep, who don't know what a great lake of tears awaits to cleanse, empty and free them.And for those who can't stop crying, may the lake run dry.
Death is just the beginning.

就是前幾個星期在我這裡北加州灣區因警察追捕歹徒時被撞的腦死的王杰?
哎呀﹐好好一個UC Berkeley的Ph D., 家裡就盼他一個留學深造﹐沒想到就在路口﹐自己車上等紅綠燈時被撞了。。。真是可惜啊 人才啊~

When the gross body has perished, the subtle one survives and migrates to another gross body; this subtle body consists of the higher psychomaterial functions of buddhi (“consciousness”), ahaṃkāra (“I-consciousness”), manas (“mind as coordinator of sense impressions”), and prāṇa (“breath”), the principle of vitality.</P><P>The range of saṃsāra stretches from the lowliest insect (sometimes the vegetable and mineral kingdoms are included) to Brahmā, the highest of the gods, for they also are involved in transmigration. The rank of one's birth in the hierarchy of life depends on the quality of the previous life. After death the soul first goes for a sojourn to a heaven or hell until it has consumed most of its good or bad karman. Then it returns to a new womb, the remainder of its karman having determined the circumstances of its next life. In theory this allows for the possibility of remembering one's previous lives (jātismara), a talent that great saints possess or can cultivate. Typical of this belief are the so-called Jātaka stories, in which the Buddha gives accounts of his previous lives.
